SAFELOCALPROT - OneHealth approach for implementing innovative strategies in the employment of local plant-protein blends in poultry production

The project has two main objectives: a) To identify optimal combination of alternative plant-protein sources (locally available) to reduce dependency on soybeans in broiler chicken diets that can be cost effective, maintain or improve productivity while reducing environmental footprint; b) The control and immunomodulation of inflammatory processes induced in the host by dietary antinutritional factors and/or Salmonella spp. infection (through the administration of feed additives with bioactive properties), by reducing the colonization, persistence, and dissemination capacity of Salmonella spp. in chickens.
