Technologies and crop solutions to mitigate drought

The AGRI-DROUGHT HUB integrates scientists from the Plant Production Area at the Institut de Recerca i Tecnologia Agroalimentàries (IRTA) with the objective of creating a research structure of reference delivering innovative solutions to improve productivity and sustainability of crops under climate change scenarios particularly drought. A consolidated group of reference working on technologies and crops to cope with drought will support other countries with research services, fields with naturally dry and hot environments, and unique facilities for experimental testing of various innovative strategies. The HUB is also committed to prepare young scientists for the future ensuring the continuity of this important work. Moreover, the group has the mission of taking the knowledge generated by current research to farmers and the industry through formative sessions on the decision-making process about choice of crops and technologies based on local experimentation.
