This project responds to the dual challenges of food waste and farmer poverty within the cocoa industry. Approximately 1.8 billion litters of cacao pulp are discarded each year in West Africa. Kumasi’s innovative solution establishes a cacao pulp processing facility in Côte d’Ivoire with an annual capacity of 800,000 liters, transforming waste into valuable ingredients. The processed juice and pulp are then shipped to Europe, where they are bottled and marketed in countries like the Netherlands and Austria, with European headquarters in the Netherlands. This approach leverages Europe’s role in promoting sustainable global supply chains while supporting socio-economic growth in Africa.
