With all this information as a starting point, the following specific objectives are proposed:
1. To further dissect the immunological mechanisms involved in the protection conferred after nasal inoculation of BA71dCD2.
2. To optimize BA71dCD2 using immunomodulatory strategies (available and to be developed in objective 1), with the aim of achieving a safer and more effective second-generation live attenuated vaccine.
3. To develop new vaccine formulations against ASF, compatible with its oral use in wild boar, a pending and essential subject if the eradication of this disease is to be considered one day.
