Integrated strategies for the development of sustainable rice production systems: developing new tools to promote the agroecological transition.

The final goal of BestRiceis to promote the agroecological transition of rice cropping systems, through the identification of high-yielding (japonica) rice varieties, with enhanced resistance to pathogen infection and good competition against weeds, and the development of sustainable production systems ensuring productivity with reduced environmental impact. Also, the research proposed in this project aims to understand biological processes involved in the interaction of rice plants with other organisms, such as beneficial soil microorganisms (AM fungi) and parasitic plants (weeds).
