As an innovative project, HIDROTERM aims to combine anaerobic digestion (AD) with hydrothermal hydrolysis (HT), a thermochemical process applicable to waste and/or biomass with high moisture content, in order to produce fuels or energy materials.

This will be the core of our innovative approach to generating a revolutionary change in the management of waste generated in the agricultural industry. These technologies offer the possibility of exploiting and extracting greater value from organic waste, such as that from agricultural crops or forestry residues, for the generation of biogas, a renewable fuel.

The overall objective of the project is to evaluate the combination of HH and DA to optimise biogas production in agro-industrial digesters (without changing the operating conditions of industrial digesters) from waste with high fibre content.
