SHARE

The Institute for Agri-Food Research and Technology (IRTA) as a technology centre together with NUTREX PINSOS S.L., GRANJAS ECOLOGICAS S.L. and ALIMENTBARNA S.L. as beneficiary companies and GEDPRO as coordinator of the Operational Group, are working on the DURAVI operational group project.

The conversion of food and water resources into poultry meat, despite its great efficiency, generates a significant environmental impact. For this reason, it is essential to minimise the waste of these products. Increasing the shelf life of poultry meat products would represent an important advantage for the overall sustainability of the production system, both economically and environmentally. In addition, a longer shelf life of the product would bring greater added value to the production chain, improving the competitiveness of the companies in the sector.

The main objective of the project is to improve the quality and durability of chicken meat through diets enriched with antioxidants, both in organic and conventional production. This strategy will reduce food waste, reduce environmental impact and increase the added value of the production chain.
