Project Code: V2446_15640
Acronym: GO Flexitray
The general objective of this innovative pilot project carried out by an Operational Group is to validate and condition GreenTray® technology in a real production environment, making it possible to obtain new, more efficient production models, providing flexibility and agility in decision-making and increasing the competitiveness of companies. The specific objectives are therefore:
– To introduce the GreenTray® bioreactor in the in vitro culture laboratories of Vivers Corona and Semillas Batlle, training staff in the handling of an autonomous module of 7 units
– To increase the competitiveness of the companies, reducing the manpower required in the in vitro handling of plants in the regeneration processes, avoiding periodically transferring the shoots or embryos from one container to another, at the time of renewing the culture medium, and instead replacing the culture medium without touching the plant materials.
– Improve clonal propagation of OHF pear rootstock in the laboratory of Vivers Corona (Barbens), by developing culture media and conditions in the GreenTray® to facilitate the cutting of new shoots, regrowth from the previous bases maintained, and the development of plants that are active in soil or greenhouse soil.
– Facilitate the production of new melon and barley varieties in the laboratory of Semillas Batlle (Bell.lloc d’Urgell) by producing pure lines in vitro, using the GreenTray® to improve the production of viable plants before acclimatisation in soil. Using the GreenTray® in (1) the multiplication and maintenance of melon plants produced in vitro by rescue of parthenogenetic embryos, and (2) in the growth of embryos to viable barley seedlings, which in some cases are albino, stimulating photosynthetic activity with periodic air renewals.
