The main objective is to show the rabbit sector an alternative to the cage housing system that will allow it to adapt to the new paradigm of production in parks, improve animal welfare and with the least possible economic impact on rabbit farms.
The specific objectives of the project are:
1) Design and implement in our farms an alternative housing system to the cages that, collecting some of the positive aspects of the cages, avoids its negative impact on certain aspects of animal welfare, is a multipurpose accommodation that can be used both for breeding females as for rabbits, and trying to minimize the investment required for infrastructure change.
2) Analyze and quantify the impact of these new park accommodation systems on: 1) the welfare and behavior of all farm animals; 2) the health status of the animals; 3) the (re) productive performance of breeding females and fattening animals; 4) the farm income statement.
3) Transfer to the rabbit sector the prototypes of designed parks and the results obtained.
