Almond scion breeding.

Is to carry on IRTA's almond scion breeding program, which started in 1975, including new breeding aims and maintaining its size to produce 5,000 seeds/year. Our breeding program is focused to obtain new heavy cropping and resilient varieties adapted to global warming and, increasing crop sustainability. In addition, to earlier objectives like late-blooming, self-fertility, cropping capacity, kernel quality, easy training, and pruning; three new aims like tree architecture, disease resistance, and adaptation to warm conditions are pursued. Almond quality and industrial aptitude evaluation is an important part of our fruit selection process.
