CRAG obtains a grant H2020-MSCA-COFUND, endowed with 1.5 million, to finance the postdoctoral program AGenT

  • Twenty two-year postdoctoral fellowships will be offered to develop multidisciplinary and intersectoral research

AGenT, the postdoctoral program of the Center for Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG), a consortium center with the CSIC, the UAB, the UB and the IRTA, has received nearly 1.5 million euros in funding in the highly competitive call 2019 H2020-MSCA-COFUND to provide training in multidisciplinary and intersectoral research. Thanks to this grant, the AGenT (Agricultural Genomics Transversal) program will offer 20 2-year postdoctoral fellowships. AGenT promotes multidisciplinary and intersectoral research projects between the Center and its associated organizations, whether national or international in scope, mainly companies, research centers and academic institutions.

Beneficiary researchers will have the opportunity to make assignments and collaborations in research, provide training in specific areas of research and in transferable or transversal skills, and create networking with people from the world of academia and the industry. All this in order to enrich the training of fellows and improve their professional development while carrying out research projects of excellence in plant and agricultural sciences.

The first call for the AGenT program is expected to open in the last quarter of 2020. The CRAG will announce the call through its own and external channels such as Euraxess, Naturejobs or ScienceCareers.

The EU MSCA-COFUND program aims to stimulate regional, national or international programs to promote excellence in the training, mobility and development of research staff, and does so by supporting doctoral programs, as well as scholarship programs for experienced researchers.

About the Center for Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG)

The Center for Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG) is a center that is part of the CERCA system of the Generalitat de Catalunya, and was established as a consortium of four institutions: the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), the Institut of Agri-Food Research and Technology (IRTA), the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and the University of Barcelona (UB). CRAG researches ranges from basic research in molecular biology of farm plants and animals, to applications of molecular techniques for genetic improvement of important species for agriculture and food production, in close collaboration with industry. In 2016, the CRAG was recognized as a Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence by Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness.
