HOLL-HEAR – Introduction and promotion of High Oleic (Holl) and Erucican (Hear) Rapeseed production

Roviroli SL and Agrocomercial Tió SL, with the participation of the Instituto de Investigación y Tecnología Agroalimentarias (IRTA), are working on the HOLL-HEAR Operational Group project.

The area cultivated with rapeseed is variable depending on a number of factors, including the lack of sufficient moisture in the soil at the time of sowing, the selling price, etc. Thus, the introduction of high oleic and erucic cod production, which can potentially provide higher added value, represents an opportunity for producers.

The main objective of the project is to introduce and promote the production and processing of high oleic (HOLL) and erucic (HEAR) elbows in the Catalan production areas. The introduction and potential of the cultivation of new types of rapeseed (high oleic and erucic) will promote the biodiversity cultivated and the sustainability of the farms, with a greater presence of a species considered to be an improving crop. Moreover, it will allow the creation and consolidation of new marketing opportunities with greater added value.
