Promotion of decentralized composting oriented towards the application of compost in horticulture.

The specific objectives of the project are:
1-Identify the projects carried out in Catalonia during the last 10 years (Operational Groups, LIFE, PECT, H2020) on decentralized composting (or km 0) and their main conclusions to visualize and disseminate them in Catalonia , mainly.
2-Provide technical and training support to current decentralized composting initiatives, based on projects carried out and capitalized by COMdeHORT in recent years.
3-Make visible positive experiences of decentralized composting in Catalonia, and orient them to the agricultural application.
4-Determine the basic characteristics of a selection of capitalized composting experiments (by-products or waste used, techniques or machinery, quality of composts that are being generated in a decentralized manner and, specifically, in terms of the degree of nitrification and maturation of composed).
5-Detect needs of quality compost in horticulture (or agriculture in general) to increase the quality and health of the soils.
6-Promote the participation and systematic interaction in the project of the different actors (researchers, farmers, compost producers, consultants) in order to assess the possibility of generating a support network for decentralized composting to generate quality compost for in horticulture.
7-Define new challenges, and initiatives or projects in order to consolidate experiences, increase knowledge and promote the circularity of horticultural activity (organic matter and nutrients).
8-Generate interest in soil preservation and crop health.
