ControlBeef - Video surveillance of animal behaviour for better welfare of fattening steers and farmers

The aim of the CONTROLBEEF demonstration project is to demonstrate to veal farmers the usefulness of a technological tool designed to detect, in advance, technical issues that alter animal behaviour and, in turn, adversely affect their production performance. This video surveillance system allows the animals to be monitored 24 hours a day from anywhere, offering the farmer greater peace of mind and convenience. Furthermore, the farmer will be able to show the animals to external parties without having to travel to the farm, saving time and resources whilst reducing the risk of biosecurity issues.

This tool can also serve as an animal welfare monitoring system for integrated producers and/or meat processing companies on their farms. The aim is for it to become a tool that helps farmers be more efficient in their daily farm tasks and to minimise the consequences of technical errors. The implementation of new technologies in rural areas is essential for retaining young talent and for improving communication within society.
