JRA ISIDORe -Development of facility access sites and methods for sensitive, easy to use, rapid and affordable West Nile virus early detection tools

Objectives:
i) Assess mosquito immature and adult stages for WNV vertical and horizontal transmission in Serbia, Spain and Switzerland, showing different epidemiological statuses.
ii) Evaluate the sensitivity of WNV detection from mosquitoes’ saliva.
iii) Develop standardized methods of WNV detection to be compared by sensitivity, easiness to use, time from sampling to results, and cost.
iv) Develop rapid, cost-effective tools for molecular detection amenable to any laboratory.
v) Monitor viral populations by genome sequencing and phylogenetic analysis.
vi) Apply climatological and earth observational data to develop models enabling risk prediction for further epidemics.
