Integrating novel sequencing, AI-based phenotyping and genome-wide analysis approaches for molecular fruit tree breeding

At GenoDraw-IA we propose very novel approaches and, due to their inter- and multidisciplinary nature, we foresee that they will have great scientific and social impact.
On the one hand, by means of GWAS (genome-wide association studies) we will obtain molecular markers (SNPs) associated to fruit shape in apple,almond and strawberry. SNPs can be applied in marker-assisted selection (MAS).
In addition, we will identify candidate genes, providing an advance in the knowledge of the genomics of fruit development of fruit development. In this task, good phenotyping is fundamental.
