SHARE

The main objective of this project is to address the advantages and disadvantages of fertilizing winter cereals with sludge from WWTP (biosolids), and to disseminate agronomic strategies that highlight the advantages and minimize the disadvantages of leading to long-term sustainable fertilization.
1. Compare the fertilization strategy based with WWTP sludge with respect to the traditional strategy based on mineral fertilizers in winter cereal crops. Nutrient dynamics and assessment of agronomic aspects
2. To determine and evaluate the cumulative effects on the soil of the main metals (Cd, Cu, Ni, Pb, Zn, Hg and Cr) and persistent organic pollutants (AOX, PCBs and PAH) present in the sludge. Legislative conditions. To determine the potential transmissibility of major metals and persistent organic pollutants in winter cereal cultivation.
3. Evaluate the long-term sustainability of sludge applications for winter cereal fertilization and develop practical management proposals that promote waste recovery and the promotion of the circular economy.
4. Disseminate to the agricultural sector, technicians and farmers, the particularities of fertilization from sewage sludge to improve the sustainability of fertilization with WWTP sludge.
