Acronym: XARXA BLAT
The main objectives are to evaluate the adaptation to the Catalan producing areas of the new commercial varieties of winter and spring soft wheat and to encourage the use of plant material that allows to improve the sustainability of the productions. The following are proposed as secondary objectives:
1- To characterize the new varieties of soft wheat based on their productive potential, cycle, susceptibility to foliar diseases, quality, etc.
2- To determine the genotypes that present a better capacity to compete with the adventitious flora, in order to contribute to the decrease of the use of herbicides.
3- Establish strategies to combat the main foliar diseases (yellow yolk, brown yolk, etc.) that incorporate the use of genetic resistance, in order to minimize as much as possible the use of active substances with fungicidal action.
4- Determine the specific adaptation of new varieties to water deficits, as a way of adapting to climate change-Infer about the efficiency in the use of nitrogen fertilization of the main varieties of wheat touper in order to achieve the objectives of yield and quality adjusting the inputs of nitrogen fertilizers.
5- Transfer the results obtained to the production sector.
