Agrolabs Digitals - Data and Digital Services Platform

The main objective of the project is for IRTA to create a digital data and services platform, which will be made available to the agricultural and aquaculture sector, other research and innovation institutions, universities and technology facilitators. This platform aims to make a decisive contribution to the promotion and adoption of digital technologies by the agricultural sector in Catalonia.

This project aims to promote a unique initiative at the Catalan level, with a broad territorial presence, to address the challenge of the digital transformation of the agri-food sector. This digital transformation is oriented from the field of domain knowledge (agricultural sector) towards the effective adoption of digital technologies by the sector.

Specifically, the challenges to be addressed are:

• The maturity of the technologies offered in the production sector is sometimes insufficient or the added value they can bring is unclear.
• The limited development of a business ecosystem in digital technologies and business models that are underdeveloped or poorly adapted to the sector.
• The low level of training and knowledge of end users in digital technologies.

To respond to these identified challenges, the Digital Data and Services Platform (Agrolabs Digitals IRTA) will be created, which will integrate nine digital tools aimed at facilitating technological adoption, value generation and training in the sector. The platform will be based on the digitisation of data generated by IRTA, distributed throughout Catalonia, representing the main agricultural and livestock value chains in Catalonia.

The digitisation of this data will enable the development of nine digital tools that will be made available to the sector:

1. Decision Support System (DSS) for sweet fruit varieties
2. Decision Support System (DSS) for extensive crop varieties
3. Tool for recommending new technologies for the plant production sector
4. Decision Support System (DSS) for the conservation of stone and seed fruit
5. Digital twin for an apple orchard
6. Digital system for the assessment and management of pests and diseases
7. Decision Support System (DSS) for efficient and sustainable pig production, based on the current BDporc system
8. New technology recommendation tool for the animal production sector
9. Decision Support System (DSS) for marine environment monitoring and risk management in bivalve production
