As part of the outreach activities of the AgriRegenCat <\/a>and AgriCarboniCat <\/a>projects, IRTA has organized several presentations of the storybook Rita and the Best Bread in the World<\/em>, aiming to raise children\u2019s awareness about the importance of caring for the land, understanding the origin of food, and discovering the connection between agriculture and sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These presentations have allowed schools and families to share the values conveyed by the story: respect for the soil, biodiversity, and regenerative agricultural practices, adapted to a young audience in a fun and approachable way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First presentation at Inocencio Pardo School in Pla de la Font
<\/strong>The first activity took place at this rural school, where all the students participated in discovering the storybook, together with Josep Usall, Director General of IRTA, and Georgina Alins, regenerative agriculture researcher. The session also served as the setting for the recording of the project\u2019s promotional video, featuring the active participation of the children, who showed great interest in understanding how bread is made and the importance of caring for the soil.<\/p>\n\n\n

Storytelling session at the Marcel\u00b7l\u00ed Domingo Library in Tortosa (Sant Jordi)
<\/strong>On April 23rd, coinciding with the Sant Jordi Day celebration, the storybook was presented at the Marcel\u00b7l\u00ed Domingo Library in front of more than 20 families. Children and their families had the opportunity to listen to Rita\u2019s story, learn more about the work of farmers, and reflect on the role of nature in our food.<\/p>\n\n\n

Educational session at Els Til\u00b7lers School in Artesa de Lleida
<\/strong>The third presentation took place at Els Til\u00b7lers School, where researchers Ainara Pe\u00f1alver and Georgina Alins explained the creation of the storybook and introduced their research on regenerative agriculture to the students. This activity provided a space for dialogue where children could express their questions and curiosities about soil, food, and the cycle of nature.<\/p>\n\n\n

These activities are part of the scientific outreach and awareness efforts of the Regenerative Agriculture projects, funded by the Climate Funds of the Government of Catalonia. These projects research ways to improve agricultural soil health, promote biodiversity, and advance sustainable practices that help mitigate climate change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
