Our aim is to ensure high-quality nutrition for livestock with crops that require less water and are more resilient to drought conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of the project, we coordinate an operational group that includes the Frisona Association of Girona (AFRIGI), Agripurza SL, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gransllusanes.com\/\">Grans de Llu\u00e7an\u00e8s<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/lleteracampllong.com\/\">Lletera de Campllong<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/coopirenaica.com\/\">Cooperativa Pirenaica<\/a> as beneficiary members, along with participation from the Federation of Agricultural Cooperatives of Catalonia (FCAC), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.semega.cat\/\">SEMEGA<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planadevic.cat\/cat\/\">Cooperativa Plana de Vic<\/a>, and Cooperativa Lletera de l\u2019Empord\u00e0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We will evaluate various annual summer crops, such as forage sorghum, known for their <strong>drought tolerance, low water requirements, regrowth capacity, and high biomass production.<\/strong> These traits make them a <strong>viable and efficient alternative<\/strong> to partially or fully replace maize in dairy operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWith the SORGOFAR project, we aim to provide farmers with viable, sustainable alternatives that help them adapt to emerging climate challenges.
