{"id":57969,"date":"2017-10-18T12:16:51","date_gmt":"2017-10-18T10:16:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.irta.cat\/noticia\/irta-cresa-works-to-overcome-the-viruses-at-global-virus-network\/"},"modified":"2024-11-06T09:22:44","modified_gmt":"2024-11-06T08:22:44","slug":"irta-cresa-works-to-overcome-the-viruses-at-global-virus-network","status":"publish","type":"noticia","link":"https:\/\/www.irta.cat\/en\/noticia\/irta-cresa-works-to-overcome-the-viruses-at-global-virus-network\/","title":{"rendered":"IRTA-CReSA works to overcome the viruses at Global Virus Network"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-12318\" src=\"https:\/\/www.irta.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/irta-cresa-gvn.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"667\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">The 9th international meeting of the\u00a0<a title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/gvn.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Global Virus Network<\/a>\u00a0\u2013GVN took place the past 9-27 September 2017 in Melbourne, Australia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">The World Virus Network (GVN) is a coalition of the best medical virology experts in more than 25 countries on the six continents, with the objective of working collectively to advance knowledge on how viruses attack humans including zoonotic viruses), in the development of diagnostic tools, medications and vaccines to prevent disease and death.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Representing the IRTA-CReSA, as a GVN center, Dr. Joaquim Segal\u00e9s, who presented, during the meeting, a talk titled: &#8220;Large animal models for MERS-COV infection&#8221;, a summary of the experiments made with animal models for coronavirus from the MERS within the\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"ES\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.zapi-imi.eu\/about-zapi\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">ZAPI<\/span><\/a><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">project.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">The GVN event featured multiple presentations on viruses that affect the human species as well as zoonotic viruses. It should be noted that one of the founders of the GVN, Dr. Robert Gallo, is a co-discoverer of the AIDS virus.
