PROENV - Balancing production and environment
Investigador principal:
The objective of the PROENV project is to provide the knowledge and tools to achieve an optimal balance between agricultural production and the impact of that production on the environment, by optimising the spatial and temporal distribution of nitrogen (N) from excreta deposited during grazing, manure and fertilizer. More specifically, the objectives are:
1) To test a number of GHG mitigation measures at the field- and farm-scale;
2) To integrate livestock and manure management in the field- and farm-scale GHG mitigation measures;
3) To investigate measures to optimize manure N utilization at the regional scale;
4) To compare approaches for balancing production and the impact on the environment at the farm and regional scales;
5) To provide open-source software to improve N management at different scales.
