The main objective of the project is the transfer of mycorrhizae biotechnology to the ornamental plant farmers . In Catalonia, more than 160 companies, mostly SMEs, engaged to the production of ornamental plants. This sector has an European and international competition as well as a total absence of public mechanisms to support production (such as the EU CAP).
Thus, innovation in the production of ornamental plants may be necessary to maintain and enhance its future competitiveness and sustainability, as well as improve their agricultural income, create new jobs and increase exports.
