An essential for the development of the production of bivalve element, the shellfish activity and protection of natural banks of this group of invertebrates is the knowledge of the factors that threaten their populations and in most cases are related to aspects pathological. This proposal is primarily in the emerging pathogen, recently detected in Spain, and that seriously affects the common cockle Cerastoderma edule, Marteilia cochillia.
