Bovi-BS: Biosecurity in bovine farms: risk analysis of the entrance of infections depending of the biosecurity and psychological and sociological aspects

To unveil which biosecurity measures are used, how they are preformed and which factors can limit its correct application in order to develop strategies that allow their optimization. This project will evaluate the biosecurity measures used by farmers and veterinarians in the dairy cattle farms in Catalonia and Galicia and of nurses in Galicia; as well as their attitudes, perceptions and barriers that can prevent the correct application of the measures. Epidemiological surveys, in-depth individual interviews, focus groups, discussion groups and ethnographies will be carried out, as well as a three-year follow-up of the farms. It will be assessed if the actions carried out have any effect on the reduction of the prevalence and new infections of three diseases with a significant negative impact on the bovine herds such as infectious bovine rintracheitis, bovine viral diarrhea and bovine paratuberculosis.
