The general purpose is to increase the sustainability and competitiveness of future almond tree plantations by improving the varieties available to fruit growers.
The main objectives are:
- To obtain self-fertile, late-flowering and extra-late flowering varieties with high production capacity, excellent fruit quality, easy formation and pruning and adapted to adverse conditions (climate, diseases, etc.).
- To obtain a variety ‘Marcona’ type by directed crosses and selection and / or resynthesis of it.
