This demonstration activity is the result of the collaboration carried out during 2020 and 2021 by staff from the Plant Health Service of the Government of Catalonia, IRTA, the University of Girona and the University of Lleida, under the coordination of the Sub-Directorate General for Agri-Food Transfer and Innovation of the Government of Catalonia. In this collaboration, the suitability of the location of the automated weather stations was analysed and the revision of some of the phenological models of pests and diseases on the RuralCat website was initiated, assessing the need to incorporate new ones. The proposed activity is therefore coordinated with the activity presented by the University of Girona entitled Improvement, evaluation and validation of predictive models of fruit tree, vine and olive tree diseases for their implementation in the RuralCat platform and with the two organisations of the Generalitat de Catalunya mentioned above.
The general objective of the activity is to update and demonstrate the validity and usefulness of the network of meteorological stations and the phenological models of agricultural pests on the Agrometeorological Models website of the RuralCat portal of the Generalitat de Catalunya, once the agricultural pests for which a validated phenological model should be available on the portal have been determined, prioritised according to the strategic crops and the Integrated Pest Management guides. This general objective is shared with the general objective of the UdG project entitled Improvement, evaluation and validation of predictive models of fruit tree, vine and olive tree diseases for their implementation in the RuralCat platform.
