Animal Breeding and Genetics


This programme addresses the improvement of animal genetics resources for more sustainable livestock systems and has developed expertise in quantitative genetics, genomics, metagenomics, statistics and data management systems. Main research lines focus on genetic and microbial determinism of animal robustness and production efficiency. The generated understanding is applied to developing and implementing new selection methods and strategies in pigs and rabbits.
