Animal Breeding and Genetics

This programme focuses on the improvement of animal genetic resources for more sustainable livestock production and develops knowledge in quantitative genetics, genomics, metagenomics, statistics and information systems.

The main lines of research include genetic and microbial determinism of animal production efficiency, robustness and resilience. The knowledge generated is applied to the development and implementation of new methods and selection strategies in pigs and rabbits.
