IRTA takes part in the elaboration of the Guide to Good Practices for the Olive Production

  1/17/2012

Description

Farms, as the food businesses they are, must meet certain requirements in order to ensure food safety through an effective self-control system. For this reason, the olive sector has joined to develop a guide to good agricultural practices (GBPA) that ensures food safety in olive production.

This ‘Guide to Good Agricultural Practice for Olive Production’ is to provide a working tool to olive holding owners to facilitate the implementation of self-control measures in order to maintain a high level of food safety, as required by the relevant regulations, and therefore provide an officially reckoned guide that becomes a safety tool.

This guide has been published by the Catalan Food Safety Agency (ACSA), under the direction of the Resource Centre for the Protection of Health and Environment, with the participation of several institutions, including IRTA.
