PhD in 1998, she has been Researcher and Professor in Animal Genetics at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, the Universidad Pública de Navarra, and the Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique – INRA (France). She joined IRTA in 2004, and currently is the Coordinator of the Animal Breeding and Genetics Program. Expertise in statistical genetics & genomics applied to study of genetic mechanisms underlying economically and socially important traits in pigs and other species. Her main research lines focus the increase of sustainability of meat production systems by improving efficiency, robustness and product quality. She has leaded four Spanish National projects and has participated in other ten Spanish and European competitive projects, plus several R+D contracts with companies. She has (co)authored more than 45 scientific publications in SCI journals of Q1 in the Areas of Agriculture, Dairy & Animal Sciences; Genetics & Heredity; and Multidisciplinary Sciences (630 citations, H-index 16), and several book chapters.
